Bengaluru drivers’ stir triggers traffic chaos; action on e-bike taxis from today

Hundreds of autorickshaw and cab drivers protested at the transport department headquarters in Bengaluru, raising concerns about illegal bike taxis and fare rule violations by taxi aggregators. Tensions rose as entry was restricted to union representatives, leading to arguments with police. Officials assured the protesters that their grievances would be addressed, calming the situation. Traffic disruptions occurred during the protest, which lasted from 11am to 3pm. The transport department had withdrawn the e-bike taxi policy, but concerns remain about enforcement and compliance with regulations.
