The new Criminal Laws, effective July 1, 2024, enabled virtual police complaints via e-FIRs. Complainants must physically sign the complaint within three days. Provisions for women and vulnerable groups were also included, requiring statements to be recorded by women officers. Zero FIRs can be filed if the crime occurs outside local jurisdiction.
