Pitchiguntla community seeks to be renamed Vamsharaj to erase stigma
The Pitchiguntla community in Telangana is urging the state’s Backward Caste Commission to officially recognize them as “Vamsharaj.” They argue that the commonly used term “Pitchiguntla” is offensive and a misrepresentation of their heritage. The community is also seeking reclassification within the BC-A category to accurately reflect their nomadic lifestyle.
