Karnataka rolls out ‘food transparency’ initiative for hostels and schools

Karnataka’s Social Welfare Department launched a pilot project, “Food Transparency in Hostels & KREIS Schools,” in three districts. This initiative mandates daily updates on X (formerly Twitter) about meals served in residential schools and hostels, covering 4.39 lakh students. Wardens post GPS-tagged photos of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with details about food quantity and kitchen conditions.
