Rainwater must seep in: Govt to ban cementing of setback areas in Bengaluru

Facing acute water shortage, the Bengaluru government will soon ban cementing of surface setback areas around individual households. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar emphasized that this initiative aims to enhance groundwater recharge by allowing rainwater to seep into the soil. The decision is based on expert recommendations to combat the city’s over-exploited groundwater scenario.
