Gujarat Titans have all but sealed a top-two finish and a place in Qualifier 1 of the IPL Playoffs after their emphatic win over Chennai Super Kings. GT finished the league on 18 points with a strong net run-rate of +0.695.
After setting CSK a target of 230 in their last league match here on Thursday, GT delivered a dominant bowling display. Pacers Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada, along with spinner Rashid Khan, claimed three wickets each to bowl out the visitors for 140 in 13.4 overs.

“The bowling attack we have, especially the fast bowling unit, has done a really great job throughout the tournament,” Rashid said at the post-match press conference. “The main thing for us is that we adjust ourselves to the conditions very quickly,” he added while explaining the bowling unit’s dominance so far in the tournament.
GT’s bowlers are among the top seven wicket-takers this far in IPL-19. Rabada is the joint highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps alongside RCB pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, while Rashid is fourth with 19 wickets to his name. GT have won nine of their 14 matches, but Rashid sees some scope for improvement. At the same time, he is not overly concerned about their shortcomings.
“You can’t really say we are a very perfect team, or we are 100 per cent perfect and we will win each and every game,” he said, before quickly adding, “Every team has those little areas to improve and some very strong areas. It doesn’t matter how good a player you have. There has been lots of discussion about our middle order and things like that, but I feel everyone is stepping up. We just keep things simple. Whoever the opposition is, the focus is on how we can be more impactful and take responsibility when the opportunity comes in the middle,” he added.
