In the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, Team India has reached 475 runs at the stroke of lunch on Day 2 at the Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.
The hosts have lost six wickets in 110 overs. Washington Sundar and Manav Suthar are unbeaten at the crease. The duo will look to stitch a crucial partnership despite losing three wickets in the first session of the day.
Skipper Shubman Gill`s impressive knock came to an end on 126 runs. His knock came in 177 balls, which included 15 boundaries and a maximum. Dhruv Jurel departed on 19 runs in 20 balls, including four boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant delivered a crucial knock of 81 runs, which came in 121 deliveries. His knock was laced with six boundaries and three maximums.
Afghanistan`s Mohammad Saleem has claimed four wickets. Ziaur Rahman and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi have also bagged one wicket. Azmatullah Omarzai, Nangeyalia Kharote, and Abdul Malik are yet to claim any wickets.
IND vs AFG Test: Day 1 summary
Team India ended the day one at 368 runs for the loss of three wickets as Indian batters dominated against an inexperienced Afghanistan bowling attack.
KL Rahul smashed 11 boundaries as he scored 100 runs in 165 balls. The Indian opener was dismissed by Ziaur Rahman Sharifi shortly after reaching his century.
Indian captain Shubman Gill also dominated the Afghanistan bowling, continuing his impressive recent form. The Indian skipper scored an unbeaten 103 runs in 143 balls, including 11 fours and one six. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten too, scoring 50 runs in 70 balls.
Sai Sudarshan scored a brisk 81 runs in 104 balls before being caught behind by Saleem Safi. For Afghanistan, Mohammad Saleem was the star bowler with two wickets to his name. Ziaur Rahman Sharifi took one wicket of Rahul as the Afghanistan bowlers struggled to make an impact.
