Jio reaches top-20 in global patent ranking:Becomes only Indian tech company to achieve the feat

Jio Platforms has secured a place in the top-20 of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Patent Cooperation Treaty ranking. The company climbed 320 positions to reach 20th place in the 2025 list. Jio has become the only Indian tech innovator to make it to the global top-20. Joined the group of companies like Huawei, Samsung and Apple Jio Platforms is the technology unit of Reliance Industries Limited. With this new ranking, the company has now joined the group of major tech companies like Huawei, Samsung, Qualcomm, LG, Panasonic, Nokia, Google, Apple and Microsoft. Of these, 2,393 patents were filed in India and 4,424 patents in foreign markets. The company’s 1,009 patents have been granted globally so far. Of these, 538 were received in India and 471 in international markets. Jio has said that its innovation is based on technologies and platforms that the company has developed and commercialized on a large scale. The company is also working on emerging technologies like 5G/6G radio, 5G/6G core, satellite communication, and the next direction of Agentic-AI – JioBrain.
