Employees with low AI usage face higher layoff risk:According to a Gallup survey, the likelihood of losing job due to not using AI is 18%
Now, hard work and experience alone are not enough in a job. Employees who do not use AI need to be cautious. According to a Gallup survey of over 23,000 employees in America, tech employees who do not regularly use AI are three times more likely to lose their jobs compared to those who do. According to the survey, the risk of layoffs for those who regularly use AI was 6%, while for those who use it less, it reached 18%. The Gallup report also reveals that the adoption of AI within companies is becoming a contentious issue. Employers are already checking candidates’ AI proficiency levels. This technology can also influence which employees companies want to retain during layoffs. Companies are now considering AI skills not as an additional qualification, but as an essential part of daily work. The good news is that the number of AI learners in India is rapidly increasing, and its impact is becoming visible on salaries and career growth. 40% of companies attributed layoffs to AI An interesting finding of the survey was that only 1% of employees who lost their jobs attributed it to AI. Most people cited restructuring, cost-cutting, and economic conditions as reasons.
Meanwhile, according to outplacement firm Challenger, Gray Christmas, companies cited AI as a reason in about 40% of job cuts announced last month. However, companies are increasingly prioritizing AI skills to boost productivity.
