Team India has received a huge blow as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the upcoming white-ball tours of Ireland and England.

He will not participate in both series due to the left quadriceps injury that he sustained during the third ODI match against Afghanistan, according to ESPNcricinfo.

According to several media reports, the 23-year-old cricketer had picked up the injury while bowling in the first ODI match in Dharamshala, following which he was provided with rest for the second game.

Later, when he returned for the third ODI match in Chennai, Reddy bowled six overs by conceding 42 runs. After six overs, the all-rounder experienced discomfort.

He will now undergo rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for at least a month, to regain match fitness.

Earlier, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was also ruled out of the Ireland and England tours as he is still recovering from the leg injury that he sustained during a conditioning session at the CoE. So far, there is no official timeline for his return.

In Reddy’s absence, Team India’s think tank could likely provide a chance to Shivam Dube or Harshit Rana. The management may also look at Suryansh Shedge, considering his performances for India ‘A’ in the series in Sri Lanka.

Team India’s white-ball series’ schedule

The “Men in Blue” under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer will begin the two-match T20I series against Ireland from June 26. The first clash is scheduled to be played at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast. The second clash against the Irishmen will take place on June 28 at the same venue.

Later, Team India will engage in a five-match T20I series against England. The first game will be played on July 1 at the Banks Homes Riverside in Chester-Le-Street, followed by the second T20I on July 4 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Greater Manchester.

The third T20I match between Team India and England is scheduled to be played on July 7 at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in West Bridgford. The fourth and fifth T20I matches will be played on July 9 and 11, respectively. The Bristol County Ground will host the fourth match, and the fifth game will be played at the Utilita Bowl in West End.

After concluding the T20I series, both teams will engage in the three-match ODI series, beginning from July 14.
