In the FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Scotland, Brazil emerged victorious by 3-0 at the Miami Stadium in Florida.

During the match, Brazil’s star forward Vinicius Junior scored a brace and silenced all his critics.

Speaking about his stunning performance against the Scottish men, the Brazilian said that he knew he would shine for his national team at the right time.

“Faith that I was going to improve, for the talent that I have, I was sure that at the right moment I would shine again with the Brazilian team shirt,” he said.

Currently with four goals in the ongoing global showpiece, he is sitting behind only Argentina’s Lionel Messi (five goals) in the race for the Golden Boot.

Vinicius then expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to represent Brazil.

“Nothing is better than going back to the World Cup, to the place where I always dreamed of being. To be able to represent my family, to be able to represent a country as important as Brazil, I believe that there is nothing better,” said the 25-year-old footballer.

“There were always times when I couldn’t show my football. It brings a certain relief,” he added.

He wasn’t wrong and is tied for second with France’s Kylian Mbappe and Norway’s Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race.

The two goals also helped Vinicius become the first Brazilian player in 24 years to score in each of his national team’s first three FIFA World Cup matches. He has joined the likes of legendary Ronaldo Nazario and Rivaldo Ferreira after achieving the feat.

Overall, Vinicius Jr became only the fifth Brazilian player to score in the nation’s first three FIFA World Cup matches, following Jairzinho (1970), Romario (1994), and Ronaldo and Rivaldo (2002).

Additionally, Neymar Júnior took the field for Brazil for the first time since 2023 as the 34-year-old came off the bench in the closing stages of Brazil’s win.

The Brazilians will now gear up for the clash in the round of 32. The match is scheduled to be played on June 29 at the Houston Stadium in Texas, with the opposition team yet to be qualified.
