Following a triumphant 13-date run across the UK and Ireland and fresh off their first-ever stadium performance at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Gorillaz have given Indian audiences a glimpse of what awaits when The Mountain Tour arrives in Mumbai and Bengaluru in January 2027. The sold-out show placed Indian music and culture firmly at the heart of the evening, celebrating some of the legendary artists who contributed to the band’s critically acclaimed album ‘The Mountain’.

The band’s sold-out headline set at Tottenham saw Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett bring their groundbreaking virtual band to life in a stadium setting for the very first time, with Albarn joined by the 13-strong Gorillaz live band and 24 guest performers from over 15 countries around the world, all taking the stage under the watchful eye of Gorillaz bandmembers Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D.

In one of the most memorable moments of the night, Damon Albarn welcomed Zanai Bhosle to the stage for a special tribute performance of ‘The Shadowy Light’ celebrating the extraordinary legacy of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, whose vocals feature on ‘The Mountain’ album track. The performance connected generations of Indian music, bringing one of India’s most celebrated musical legacies to a sold-out stadium audience in London.

The show brought together collaborators from across the world, showcasing the global musical vision that inspired ‘The Mountain’. Indian representation was at the heart of the performance. Acclaimed bansuri virtuoso Ajay Prasanna joined the band on stage, while pioneering jazz icon Asha Puthli’s contribution to another album track ‘The Mooncave’ was celebrated as part of the expansive live production. The album itself features an extraordinary roster of Indian collaborators including Asha Bhosle, Anoushka Shankar, Ajay Prasanna, Asha Puthli, and sarod maestros Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash.

“Thank you so much for attending this mass gathering of multi-cultural, multi-generational music, we appreciate you.” – Damon Albarn. “We are all one under the sun,” added Jamie Hewlett.

The Gorillaz live experience – hailed as “an overwhelming pop spectacle” (ROLLING STONE) and “a star-studded show of lush visuals and borderless music” (THE OBSERVER) – draws on a quarter century of genre-bending, paradigm-shifting, consistently innovative musical brilliance. Since the band’s creation more than 25 years ago, Gorillaz has amassed an unparalleled arsenal of classic tunes including ‘Feel Good Inc.,’ ‘Clint Eastwood,’ ‘On Melancholy Hill,’ ‘DARE,’ ‘Dirty Harry,’ ‘Stylo,’ ‘Kids with Guns,’ ‘Tomorrow Comes Today,’ ‘Rhinestone Eyes’ and dozens more.

For Indian fans, the significance of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium performance extends beyond the scale of the show. Many of the creative and musical elements that define the unique and extraordinary spectacle of a Gorillaz show will travel to India when Gorillaz make their long-awaited debut performances in the country next January.

Produced and exclusively ticketed by District by Zomato, ‘The Mountain’ Tour India will take place at District Arena @ Terraform in Bengaluru on January 23 and Jio World Garden in Mumbai on January 27 in 2027.
