Legendary Team India’s batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels that the England tour will be a good platform for Rohit Sharma to show that he will opening for the national side in the ODI World Cup 2027.
“When has there not been a lot of talk about Rohit Sharma, there has always been a lot of talk about Rohit Sharma. He knows where he stands. I think there obviously has been a clear sort of information flow from those who matter and Rohit Sharma. He knows exactly where he stands and all that he needs to do over the next year-and-a-half leading up to the World Cup is to consistently deliver,” he said.
“I don’t think he’s the kind of person who feels any pressure with the talent and the ability that he has. England (tour) is a very good platform for him to show that even a year-and-a-half down the road, he’ll be there opening the batting for India,” added Gavaskar.
Recently, the “Men in Blue” suffered a series loss by 0-2 against Ireland. They will now lock horns with England for a five-match T20I series, with the first game scheduled to be played on July 1.
