Air pollution fight taking a hit? RTI reveals 30% posts vacant at India’s apex watchdog CAQM
India’s top air pollution watchdog, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), is critically understaffed, operating with only 70% of its sanctioned workforce. An RTI revealed 16 vacant posts with no immediate plan for recruitment, raising serious concerns about its ability to enforce pollution control measures across the NCR. This shortage impacts the coordination and implementation of vital plans like GRAP, especially during peak pollution seasons.
