Ebadot Hossain set to miss the Test series against Australia

Bangladesh have suffered a setback before their upcoming red-ball series against Australia, with lead fast bowler Ebadot Hossain ruled out of the tour. The two-match World Test Championship clash is set to kick off on August 13 in Darwin.
According to the statement, Ebadot will stay home to attend the birth of his first child. Doubts also surround fellow fast bowler Nahid Rana for the series opener as the team management awaits medical scan reports on a side strain.
On a brighter note, team officials are confident that seasoned campaigner Litton Das will recover from a calf issue before the Test match begins. The team is scheduled to touch down on Australian soil early next month, where they will feature in a three-day tour match against a Cricket Australia XI starting August 3 in Darwin.
The practice match offers important match practice before the opening Test at the same ground, and batting coach Mohammad Ashraful remains hopeful of having a fit group available.
“It will be tough in Australia, but the positive is that we will travel there early…10-12 days in advance,” Ashraful said.
“We will have the opportunity to play a three-day practice match, and hopefully, if all our players are fit, we will be able to perform well there,” he added.
Ashraful confident that team will bounce back from Zimbabwe disappointment
Although Bangladesh’s fast-bowling group has impressed after their recent performances, Ashraful shared his disappointment with the batting unit after a disappointing showing against Zimbabwe in Harare.
He feels the batting group can turn things around against the Australian team, referencing their strong efforts during the 2-0 series victory over Pakistan in May.
“Our batters did really well over the last seven months. One series can go wrong; one Test match went bad, but in the four Tests before that, our batters played extremely well,” he said.
“See, we can lose one or two games in different conditions. After playing so well over the last seven months, there is no reason to be demoralised after losing one or two matches, I believe. Obviously, they have gained experience from playing in different conditions,” he concluded.
