Miraz's crucial contributions help Bangladesh secure historic win against AUS

In the first Test match against Australia, Bangladesh registered a historic win by nine wickets at the Marrara Stadium in the Darwin suburb of Marrara.

This was Bangladesh’s first win on Australian soil and only second victory against the Aussies.

Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a crucial role in the team’s success in the match. In the visitors’ first innings, he delivered a knock of 65 runs off 154 balls, including five boundaries and a maximum. Later in Australia’s second innings, he delivered a stunning performance with the ball. Having bowled 33.1 overs, he returned with the figures of five wickets for 66 runs.

Earlier, batting first, Australia was bowled out for 198 runs. Veteran batsman Steve Smith smashed 71 runs in 109 balls, with the help of seven boundaries and a maximum.

Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud claimed six wickets for 55 runs in 17 overs. Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain bagged two wickets each.

Later in Bangladesh’s first innings, Tanzid Hasan registered 101 runs, which came in 197 deliveries. His knock was laced with eight boundaries and a maximum. Mominul Haque and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto also scored 49 and 84 runs, respectively. Mehidy delivered a helpful half-century.

Australia’s Josh Hazlewood bagged six wickets by leaking 89 runs in 28 overs. With this, he became the ninth Australian bowler to take 300 Test wickets. With Hazlewood’s milestone, Australia now have four bowlers in the playing group who have each taken at least 300 Test wickets. Mitchell Starc also claimed two wickets. Captain Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon registered one wicket each to their names.

In Australia’s second innings, Cameron Green smashed a glorious 104-run knock in 201. His knock included four boundaries and a maximum.

Bangladesh’s Mehidy bagged five wickets, whereas Hasan Mahmud also claimed three wickets. Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam bagged one wicket each.

In the visitors’ second innings, they chased the target of 57 runs for the loss of one wicket. Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque stayed unbeaten on 25 and 30 runs, respectively.
