Google launches ‘GoogleBook’ in the US, coming to India soon:Premium laptop connects seamlessly with Android phones, 5 brands to manufacture it

Google has made its biggest launch yet in the laptop world. On September 21, the company introduced a new lineup of laptops called GoogleBook. After being present in the laptop market for nearly a decade through Chromebooks, Google is now moving beyond low-cost, limited-use laptops and entering the premium segment. Its biggest highlight is the new GoogleBook OS, based on Android instead of ChromeOS. It features a desktop interface with app windows, a taskbar, and trackpad gestures. Special: Users will be able to run the same apps on GoogleBook that they use on their smartphones Launch: Starts at ₹86,000 in the US GoogleBook runs Android apps natively and comes with the Google Play Store pre-installed. In the US, the starting price is $899 (around ₹86,000), while the top model costs $1,300 (around ₹1.25 lakh). Google has not yet announced an India launch. AI: Gemini will include agentic features GoogleBook comes with Gemini Live and Google’s Spark AI agent. It can perform tasks like browsing the web and filling out forms on behalf of the user. It also includes a feature called ‘Magic Pointer,’ which activates Gemini from anywhere on the screen by simply moving the mouse pointer. GoogleBook’s Continue On feature lets users resume an app on the laptop exactly where they left off on their phone. With Cast My Apps, Android phone apps can run directly on the laptop without needing to install them separately. Upgrade: From Chromebook to a premium laptop Chromebooks were designed for affordable, everyday computing. GoogleBook, however, brings premium hardware to the lineup. Every model comes with at least 16GB RAM, a high-end processor, an OLED touchscreen, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Google’s Titan security chip.
