Fossilised bones from a large hoofed mammal were uncovered during an excavation project in Oceanside, California. Paleontologists are studying the remains, which may belong to a thunder beast or a swamp rhino. The discovery took place approximately 12 feet below the surface in the Santiago Formation’s sedimentary rock. Researchers are working to determine the exact identity of the fossils found during construction.
