Meta’s latest transparency report reveals a massive spike in hacking and account access complaints, with more than 27,000 users seeking help across its two biggest platforms. Facebook complaints jumped nearly 11 times According to Meta’s India Monthly Report, Facebook received 10,997 hacking-related complaints in July 2026. That is a huge rise compared to the previous two months. This means Facebook recorded nearly 355 hacking complaints every day during July. Instagram reported even more cases Instagram saw an even higher number of complaints, with 16,621 users reporting hacking or account access issues in July. That works out to around 536 complaints every day throughout the month. Access problems also increased The report shows that users were not only reporting hacked accounts but also losing access to their pages and groups. Interestingly, complaints about fake profiles did not rise in the same way, suggesting the July spike was mainly linked to account access and recovery issues. What did Meta do? Meta says it responded to every complaint submitted through its grievance system. In most cases, users were given self-service or account recovery tools to regain access.
