A Mangaluru doctor dated a fellow doctor for 7 years, they split over caste differences, she filed a case accusing him of sex on false promise of marriage; Karnataka HC quashes case, says a consensual relationship turning sour is not a false promise of marriage
A seven-year relationship between two doctors ended over caste differences without marriage. The man faced allegations of deceit regarding a promise of marriage that was consensual. The Karnataka high court reviewed the case and noted the relationship was not based on deceitful means. The court emphasized that a souring relationship does not equate to an offense under the law. Consequently, the court quashed the criminal proceedings against the doctor.
