Wind in a different beast: Morkel anticipates wind to make an impact

Team India is set to lock horns with New Zealand in the third T20I match on October 27 at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington.

Ahead of the match, Team India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel said that wind is a different beast and the players need to adapt to the conditions.

“I mean, yeah, this is a different, different beast, this wind. I was in the hotel this morning and the whole building was sort of shaking. So I think it is going to be a new sort of thing that we add to our books for the guys to get used to and accustomed to, with a quick turnaround,” he told the reporters.

“For us again, it is looking forward to that challenge and taking it head-on and not really making excuses,” added Morkel.

He also said that during the match, the bowlers should focus on executing their deliveries well and make every ball count.

“And then when it comes to game time, you have to block that out and really just try and execute every delivery and make every ball count,” said the bowling coach.

Currently, the “Men in Blue” are leading the ongoing five-match T20I series by 2-0 against the “Black Caps”. The hosts have suffered defeats in two consecutive games and will be eager to register a win in the third match to keep the series alive.

After delivering big knocks in the first match, New Zealand’s batting unit failed to continue riding on the momentum in the second clash. On the other hand, Team India’s Tilak Varma is in red-hot form, and the team’s management will expect him to make crucial contributions in the third match.
