In the third T20I match against Team India, New Zealand has reached the score of 100 runs for the loss of two wickets in 10 overs at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington.
Having been put to bat first, New Zealand’s wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert scored two runs in six balls. Fellow opening batsman Finn Allen departed after scoring 40 runs in 25 balls, including five maximums.
Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips are unbeaten at the crease.
Team India’s Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy have managed to claim one wicket each. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Axar Patel, and Prince Yadav are yet to claim any wickets.
Earlier, Team India’s skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The “Men in Blue” have made no change in what could be a series-deciding clash.
The “Black Caps” have made three major changes, where they have included Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, and Matthew Fisher in the playing XI and left out Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, and Nathan Smith.
After winning the toss, Team India’s skipper Iyer said, “(First and foremost, it’s a little bit warmer in Christchurch. Got the gloves on tonight. How are the boys coping?)Well, yeah, it’s pretty windy out here. We were anticipating it, but we’ve got to keep our mana on, as they say in local language (Maori). And, yeah, that’s the plan. (What have you talked to the guys about between Christchurch and coming here to Wellington? What have you talked about improving a little bit?) Yeah, there are certain aspects we definitely need to keep improving, and I obviously feel that the way we adapted to the conditions in Christchurch, the same thing we have to do over here as well because, the dimensions, the conditions are pretty different. So the quicker we adapt, the better for us”.
“(Continuing to find match-winners, different match-winners in your side, how important is that for you?) It’s important for the team. I feel that everyone stepping up at the right time when the team requires it, that’s a sign of a quality team, and we want to keep repeating it again and again. And I feel going forward, it would be crucial for the team as well. (How difficult is it to continue to tell those players missing out they’re not getting an opportunity?) I feel a lot of players in the team are pretty mature to understand that, and I also have this feeling about every individual that they want to win more than, you know, worrying about their opportunity. I mean, everyone gets an opportunity, and when it arrives, I’m sure they’re ready for it. We’re going with the same team,” he added.
