Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and promising young star Anmol Kharb have guaranteed India a spot in the women’s singles final by setting up an all-Indian semi-final clash at the Hylo Open 2026 in Germany on Friday.
Second seed PV Sindhu delivered a masterclass performance to cruise past Denmark’s Amalie Schulz with a dominant 21-12, 21-10 victory in just 28 minutes. Controlling the tempo from the opening serve, Sindhu never lost the lead in either game and maintained complete authority throughout the quarter-final contest. The win marked Sindhu’s second consecutive win over Schulz, following their previous straight-games clash in the round of 16 at the Thailand Open earlier this season.
On the adjacent court, 19-year-old Anmol Kharb produced a gritty display to edge past sixth seed Unnati Hooda 21-17, 18-21, 21-16 in an intense 68-minute thriller. Marking their first-ever meeting on the BWF World Tour, the two young Indian shuttlers engaged in a tight battle in the opening game before Anmol broke away from 6-6 to claim the opener.
Unnati rallied back in the second game, holding off a late charge to force a decider, and carried that momentum to lead 6-3 in the third. However, Anmol shifted gears from 12-11 down, launching a decisive eight-point blitz to build a 19-12 cushion before wrapping up the hard-fought victory.
Lakshya Sen comeback secures BWF Super 500 semi-final spot
In the men’s singles event, seventh seed Lakshya Sen mounted a strong comeback to defeat Finland’s Kalle Koljonen 14-21, 21-17, 21-13 in a gruelling one-hour-and-six-minute battle at the Saarlandhalle.
After dropping the tight opening game, Lakshya stabilised his play in the second set, holding a narrow advantage throughout to level the match. In the deciding game, with scores locked at 4-4, the Indian unleashed four straight points to seize momentum and comfortably navigate his way to the finish line. According to Olympics.com, this semi-final appearance marks Lakshya’s first individual BWF World Tour last-four finish since his runner-up showing at the All England Open in March.
After a disappointing French Open, the Indian shuttlers have bounced back in style at the Hylo Open 2026.
