In Sircilla town, a police officer named Thota Gangaram died after falling into a lift shaft due to a technical malfunction. Gangaram, who was the commandant of the 17th Police Battalion, assumed the lift had arrived and opened the grill doors, but fell when it wasn’t there. Fire department personnel retrieved his body from the shaft.
