Organisers of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 have issued an official clarification regarding a viral video circulating on social media, which falsely suggests that players from the India Champions side walked off the field upon seeing members of the Pakistan Champions team during a semifinal match.
WCL officials confirmed that the video in question has been taken out of context, clarifying that the footage was actually recorded during the group-stage fixtures when India Champions were preparing to take the field against West Indies Champions, while Pakistan Champions were exiting after their earlier match against Australia Champions on the same day.

“We are aware of a video currently circulating on social media that misleadingly suggests India Champions players walked off the ground upon seeing a Pakistan Champions player. We wish to categorically clarify that India Champions never entered the field for the scheduled semi-final match, nor for their originally scheduled group-stage match against Pakistan Champions,” the statement read. The organisers emphasised that no on-field interaction took place between the India and Pakistan Champions teams during the 2025 edition of the WCL.
“The video in question was actually filmed during the India Champions vs West Indies Champions match, at the moment when the India Champions team was entering the field while the Pakistan Champions team was leaving after their match against Australia Champions. We confirm that there has been no on-field interaction between the players of the two teams during this year`s World Championship of Legends,” the statement added.
Urging the public to act responsibly, the WCL further appealed to fans and media outlets to refrain from spreading misinformation that could tarnish the spirit of the tournament. “We urge fans and media outlets to refrain from spreading misinformation. The World Championship of Legends remains committed to upholding the true spirit of cricket & sportsmanship,” the organisers said.
In a related development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced its withdrawal from all future editions of the WCL, citing concerns about the tournament’s fairness, integrity, and political neutrality. According to a report by The Nation, the PCB expressed dissatisfaction with the tournament’s handling of recent events and questioned its commitment to ensuring a level playing field.
