Mohammad Kaif heaps praise on Rohit Sharma after 73-run knock

In the second ODI match against Australia, Team India`s opening batsman Rohit Sharma played a stunning knock, which helped the “Men in Blue” to post a total of 264 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
Facing 97 balls, the right-hander scored 73 runs, which was laced with seven boundaries and two maximums.
Following his knock, former Team India batsman Mohammed Kaif heaped praise on Rohit by saying that the knock will give him a lot of confidence and has shown that he is not going anywhere.
The former cricketer took to his social media handle, where he wrote, “Too much social media chatter about his future, tough pitch, world class pacers operating, Gill and Kohli out cheaply… Despite all that Rohit plays a very important inning for India and his career. This 73 at Adelaide will give him a lot of confidence. Rohit shows he isn`t` going anywhere”.

After scoring 73 runs, the Nagpur-born cricketer surpassed former skipper Sourav Ganguly to become India`s third-highest run-scorer in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
Now in 275 ODIs and 267 innings, Rohit has scored 11,249 runs at an average of 48.69, with 32 centuries and 59 fifties and a best score of 264. He has overtaken Ganguly, who made 11,121 runs in 308 matches at an average of 40.95, with 22 centuries and 71 fifties.
Enjoying the top spot on the list is legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who has 18,426 runs under his belt. In 463 ODI matches, the former right-handed batsman also registered 49 centuries. Virat Kohli comes in the second place with 14,181 runs in 304 ODI matches for the “Men in Blue”. Currently, he holds the record for the most number of tons in the format`s history, which is 51.
Other than that, Rohit also scripted history by becoming the first Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in India-Australia ODI matches in Australian soil. So far, in 21 matches, the right-hander has accumulated 1071 runs against Australia in their backyard with an average of 56.36 and a strike rate of 89.32. He also has four tons and three half-centuries, with a top score of an unbeaten 171 runs.
Competing with him is Kohli, who currently stands second with 802 runs, in the race to become India`s highest run-scorer against Australia in ODIs.
