The person received a call from an unknown number, in which scammers lured him with the promise of increasing his credit limit. In this process, he was asked to install an app via a link. Immediately after, his mobile was hacked, and his bank account was emptied. In recent days, frauds under the guise of increasing credit card limits are rapidly increasing. Scammers call, posing as bank officials, gain trust, and then empty your bank account by obtaining links, OTPs, or card details. Last month, a similar case came to light in Mumbai, where a person was defrauded of Rs 2.45 lakh. The good news was that the amount was recovered due to a timely complaint, but it’s not necessary that this happens in every case. Often, people do not complain due to fear or lack of information.
