Security Alert in ChatGPT:OpenAI launches two special modes, will tell when your data is at risk

OpenAI has added two new security features to ChatGPT. Lockdown mode and Elevated Risk Labels. The purpose of these tools is to prevent user data from being stolen by AI. This step is considered important for countries like India in an era of digital payments, Aadhaar-linked services, online banking and rapidly growing AI usage. Especially when incidents of cyber fraud and data leaks are continuously increasing. Protection from Cyber Fraud A new cyber threat has also emerged called prompt injection. In this, hackers insert hidden instructions in a document. When a user reads it with AI tools like ChatGPT, the AI can unknowingly reveal confidential information. For example, if you analyze text from a suspicious website using AI, the hidden command in it prompts the AI to extract data from your system. Elevated Risk Labels: First Alert, Then Action This feature will warn users in advance that the feature or web-connected tool being used may expose more data. This means if ChatGPT is connecting to an external third-party website or app, the screen will clearly show that there could be potential risks. This will allow users to decide for themselves whether to proceed with the AI chat or not. Lockdown Mode: Option to choose complete ‘Safe Mode’ Lockdown mode will also prove useful for users. When enabled, ChatGPT will restrict external systems, third-party apps and web connections. This will reduce the risk of data leakage. This feature could be particularly useful for journalists, corporate professionals, government officials or users dealing with sensitive information. They will be able to chat safely in lockdown mode.
