T20 World Cup 2026: Despite victory, Pakistan fail to qualify for the semi-final
[[{“value”:”
Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in their T20 World Cup Super Eights match here on Saturday, but failed to qualify for the semi-finals due to a poorer net run rate than New Zealand. Pakistan, who posted 212-8, needed to restrict the Lankans to 147 or lesser to ensure progression to the semis, but the hosts got past that mark comfortably to knock Pakistan out. Sri Lanka finished on 207-6, losing by five runs.
Earlier, Sahibzada Farhan struck a 60-ball hundred — his second ton in this World Cup — while his opening partner Fakhar Zaman scored 84 off 42 balls to take Pakistan to a formidable 212 for 8.
