Tinder tries to win back Gen Z users with AI:Company announced Video Speed Dating, Music Mode, and Astrology Mode

Online dating platform Tinder has revealed several exciting updates during its Tinder Sparks 2026 product keynote. The California-based company announced a mix of AI-powered safety upgrades, new discovery modes, fresh profile tools, and improved app design. These changes aim to make dating on the platform safer, faster, and more interactive. AI upgrades to improve safety Tinder is strengthening its trust and safety features using large language models (LLMs). Two key tools – “Does This Bother You?” (DTBY) and “Are You Sure?” (AYS) are getting smarter. Meanwhile, DTBY with the new AI upgrade is already live. Tinder is also expanding Face Check, its video-based face detection and liveness verification technology. The feature is now rolling out worldwide and will be mandatory for new users. Meet matches in real life with the Events tab Tinder is adding a brand-new Events section to help users connect beyond the app. This feature allows people to discover local events and meet matches in person. Currently, the feature is in beta testing in Los Angeles, California. Another upcoming feature is Video Speed Dating, which lets users interact with potential matches through three-minute video chats. If both people enjoy the conversation, they can extend the session. New ways to discover matches Tinder is also introducing new discovery modes that help users find matches based on shared interests. Music mode
This redesigned version of Global Mode lets users match through shared music tastes powered by Spotify. Users can add up to 20 songs to their profile. Astrology mode
This feature focuses on compatibility-based browsing, helping users find matches based on sun signs and energy cards. Additionally, Double Date, a social dating feature launched last year, is now available globally. It allows two friends to match with another pair and even add double-date activity ideas to their profiles. Tinder’s College Mode, which connects students from different universities and institutes, is currently being tested in the US and UK. Smarter profiles and fresh app design Tinder is also rolling out new AI-powered profile tools: The app is also getting a visual refresh with full-screen photos, smoother fade animations, a redesigned profile page, and a new showcase section for movies, shows, and games.
