Bengaluru saw over 2,100 new vehicles a day on average; total count touches 1.2 crore

Bengaluru’s vehicle count surpassed 1.2 crore by March 2026, with over 7.9 lakh new vehicles added in 2025-26, straining the city’s infrastructure. This surge, driven by private vehicle dependence due to inadequate public transport, exacerbates congestion and poses public health risks. Experts urge a policy shift towards promoting public transport.
