Oppo Find X9 Review:12-hour battery life and a 50MP camera for ₹75,000; 3 things to know before buying
Oppo’s new flagship smartphone, the Find X9, has arrived in the market. It comes with a starting price of ₹75,000. We’ve been using it as our primary phone for the past two months. The phone’s looks are as impressive as its features, though there are some drawbacks. So, let’s find out what’s special about it… Oppo Find X9: Design and build quality This compact flagship phone is built on an aerospace-grade aluminum frame, making it lightweight yet sturdy. The front and back glass are covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which is scratch-resistant. A customizable snap key is provided on the side for accessing the camera or AI features. The 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor works even in the rain. The front display features a flat screen with ultra-thin 1.15mm bezels for edge-to-edge viewing. The phone is IP68/IP69 rated, meaning it can withstand high-pressure water jets. The camera module appears to be a single unit, giving the phone a sleek look. Overall, the phone feels premium in daily use. The Oppo Find X9 measures 157mm long, 73.9mm wide, and 8mm thick, and weighs just 203 grams, making it feel quite solid in the hand. Oppo Find X9: Specifications Display: Oppo has balanced the display size. Vivo phones are either too small or too large, but the Find X9’s 6.56-inch display is good for single-handed use. It’s a 1.5K OLED flat screen with a resolution of 2760 × 1256 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, meaning touch is smooth. The 1800 nit brightness makes the screen clear even in bright sunlight. The LTPS panel allows the refresh rate to drop below 1Hz, which slightly impacts battery life. However, visual quality is top-notch. The screen is protected by Oppo Crystal Shield glass, and the P3 display chip ensures clearer images. The company has also equipped the phone with in-display fingerprint sensor technology. Performance: The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 octa-core processor based on 3-nanometer fabrication, clocked at up to 4.21GHz. LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage ensure quick app loading and smooth multitasking. For heavy-duty performance and gaming, the Find X9 features the Trinity Engine, which delivers a smooth and lag-free gaming experience. To prevent overheating during mobile gaming, the phone features a 36,344.4mm² cooling dissipation area. This Oppo mobile phone supports the Arm Mali-Drag MC12 GPU for graphics. It averaged 114 FPS during over an hour of continuous gaming. There was no lag during app switching or multitasking. Software: The phone runs Color OS 16 based on Android 16, which is very similar to OnePlus’ software. It’s smooth and reliable, but it does have some redundant features like “Hot Apps” and “Hot Games.” However, these can be disabled in the settings. Camera: For photography, the Oppo Find X9 features a Hasselblad camera setup on the back. This includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYT808 main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. The phone supports 120x AI telescopic zoom, allowing it to capture high-quality images even from very far away. The phone can record 4K Dolby Vision video at 120fps. For selfies and video calling, there’s a 32-megapixel front camera, powered by the Sony IMX615 sensor. Thanks to the Hasselblad branding, colors are very natural and accurate. 3x portrait shots are good, though not as good as the Vivo X200 Pro in low-light portraits. Videos are very stable in daylight, but some noise is visible at night. Battery: The phone’s most notable feature is its 7025mAh battery, which supports 80W fast wired and 50W wireless charging. Even with heavy camera usage, the phone comfortably lasted for a day and a half. We got 10 to 12 hours of screen-on time. Key Features: One interesting feature of the phone is its “Wet Touch” technology. This means that fingerprints and touch functions work perfectly even if the display is spilled with water or your hands are wet. Furthermore, thanks to its IP69 rating, it’s water-resistant. Cons: This ₹75,000 phone still has a USB 2.0 port, but a phone this budget should have included USB 3.0. Vibration feedback could have been stronger. Setting up the phone requires uninstalling many unnecessary apps. Final Verdict: The phone comes in two variants, with the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant priced at ₹74,999 and the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage variant priced at ₹75,000, which seems a bit high. If you find this phone under ₹65,000 after the offer, you can buy it without a second thought.
