`We`ll have a look at Shubman…`: Jamieson on facing Gill ahead of GT`s clash

The Delhi Capitals (DC) have begun their IPL 2026 campaign on a positive note, winning both their matches so far.
The Capitals are now gearing up to lock horns with the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday, April 8, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
GT`s skipper Shubman Gill missed out on the team`s previous clash due to muscle spasms. However, he is expected to feature against DC.
In an exclusive interview with mid-day.com, Delhi`s Kyle Jamieson revealed the team`s strategy against Shubman Gill, saying they develop plans for every player and every team, but will specifically look for any chinks in Gill’s game during the match.
“We haven`t quite got to that [planning] yet. We`ve just got two training sessions in the next couple of days, and then we`ll go. So yeah, I`m sure like we do for every player and for every team, we come up with our little plans and ways we want to operate. But we`ve also been very clear this season that we want to look at ourselves and what our strengths are and how we want to operate. You play pretty much, every team you play has got world-class players from one down to what feels like eight, nine, 10,” he said.
“So, yeah, you kind of just got to look within a little bit more, I think, in this tournament with just so many world-class players and focus on what our game plan is. But, yeah, I`m sure we`ll have a look at Shubman and see if we can find any sort of chinks in that armour,” added the pacer.
Earlier in both matches, one name that emerged for all the praise is Sameer Rizvi. Coming in as an Impact Player, Rizvi delivered match-winning knocks in both games. The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer scored an unbeaten 70 off 47 deliveries against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), including five boundaries and four sixes.
In the second match against the Mumbai Indians (MI), he smashed 90 runs off 51 balls, hitting seven boundaries and seven sixes.
When asked whether, as a senior bowler, Jamieson shares any tips with the right-handed batsman on how to handle a bowler`s attack or an unplayable delivery, the pacer said he can only assist him by bowling a variety of balls during net sessions.
“So, obviously, the batters go through game plans for what each player does. I think obviously with every player, if you see a window where you can offer some advice and help that might help someone on the field or move their game forward, you`re always trying to be forthcoming. But he`s in a pretty good place at the moment,” said the Auckland-born cricketer on Rizvi.
“So I think my [role] just comes from bowling into the nets and trying to offer him some variety to help him problem solve. But no, he`s going good. He doesn`t need too much help from me at the moment, I think,” concluded the 31-year-old cricketer.
IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals` net run rate (NRR) and points
Having secured two wins in as many matches, DC are placed in the third position with a net run rate (NRR) of +1.170 and four points.
