Kolkata Knight Riders were restricted to 56 runs for the loss of 1 wicket at the end of the powerplay by LSG. Mohammed Shami and co were brilliant with the ball as they stopped the KKR run flow early on in the innings.
Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first, and his decision proved right as LSG bowlers dominated the KKR batters. Early on, Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav shared the new ball to great effect.
Yadav got the wicket of dangerous Finn Allen to give the visitors a perfect start. Later on, Manimaran Siddharth and Digvesh Rathi spun the ball well to stop KKR from scoring freely in the power play.
For KKR, Ajinkya Rahane has looked positive, scoring 23 runs in 13 balls. Angkrish Raghuvanhi has struggled at the crease so far, scoring 20 runs in 15 balls.
KKR would hope to put on a respectable score on the board as they look to win their first game of the season.
Earlier at the toss, Rahane admitted that he wanted to bowl first too and confirmed the return of Sunil Narine.
“We wanted to bowl. (I`m thinking back to the previous game, actually, that`s why I asked that) That match didn`t get over, so you never know. Just one change – Sunil comes in place of Blessing, Varun is still recovering from his hand injury.” Rahane said.
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant will hope to get back-to-back wins after guiding his LSG team to a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last match. The southpaw won the toss and elected to bowl first against KKR.
