Oppo K14 Review- IP69 rated waterproof smartphone:LCD display instead of AMOLED and 45W charger instead of 80W
Tech companies launch new mobile models every year and claim that the new one is better than the previous one. Oppo has recently launched K14, an upgraded version of K13. The price of both is almost equal and slightly less than ₹19,000. Let’s find out whether this phone is value for money or not: Design: With Metallic Finish You get everything in the box from charger to cover, no need to buy anything separately. Talking about design, the phone looks good, there’s a new pattern on the back and the camera module has been made slightly more premium than before, with a metallic finish given to it. The overall build of the phone is the same as before, but here there’s a major change in the IP rating. Where previously only IP65 rating was available, now the Oppo K14 has also been given IP69 rating. This means it’s completely protected from high-pressure water jets and dust. It has received SGS 5-Star and MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification, meaning it won’t get damaged easily from drops or shocks. The phone is available in colors like Icy Blue, Prism Violet and Prism White. The front has a large 6.75-inch screen with thin bezels. Oppo K14: Specifications Display: Last year’s Oppo K13 came with an AMOLED display, but in the new K14, the company has removed it and installed a 6.75-inch LCD display. Moving from AMOLED to LCD is a ‘downgrade’ for customers. This has made the video viewing experience dull. However, it supports a 120Hz refresh rate and has a peak brightness of 1125 nits, which ensures good visibility even in bright sunlight. It also has a splash touch feature, which allows touch to work even with wet hands. Performance: Last year’s model had a Snapdragon processor, whose benchmark score was around 7 to 8 lakhs. This time Oppo has used the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor, whose score is only between 4 to 5 lakhs. Such a processor is typically found in phones with a budget of 10 thousand. This means the company has made significant cuts in terms of processor and storage. The phone runs on software based on Color OS 15. To keep the phone cool during gaming, it has been equipped with a Super Cool VC cooling system. Sound and Camera: Like the previous phone, this one also has dual speakers. In the camera department, there is a 50MP main camera and a 2MP monochrome sensor on the back. Photos taken with the phone in daylight come out well. The front previously had a 16 megapixel camera, but now it only has an 8 MP camera. It includes smart features like AI Eraser 2.0. Battery and Charging: For power backup, Oppo has provided a 7000mAh battery, but the charging speed has been reduced to just 45 watts this time compared to 80 watts in the previous model. This means the large battery that you could charge quickly last year will now take double the time to fully charge. However, the company claims that it gets fully charged in approximately 92 minutes. It also supports reverse charging. Final Verdict: If you are thinking of buying an Oppo phone, the previous K13 could be a better option than the new K14.
