‘My height increased by 5 cm, head was swollen’:Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla shares secrets of space travel
Indian Air Force Group Captain and Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla has revealed another secret from his space journey. He has shared information about the changes that occurred in his body during that time. He said that his height increased by 5 cm there and his head became swollen. He shared this on Thursday at the Summer Plant Science Festival organized at NBRI in Lucknow. Shubhanshu said, ‘There was no gravitational force in space. Due to this, the heart was pumping blood upwards. This caused blood to accumulate towards the head, which was increasing the swelling in the head. The heart was shrinking, muscle mass was decreasing. Not only this, his height also increased by up to 5 centimeters. My body returned to normal 15 days after returning to Earth.’ ‘Earth is priceless, even wood is like diamonds’ Shubhanshu Shukla said that Earth looks extremely beautiful when viewed from space. Whatever is here is not only priceless but also extremely rare. That’s why Earth is the most precious in the entire universe. The wood found here will not be found anywhere else in the entire space. It will be found only here, meaning wood is as precious as diamonds for other planets. It is very necessary to preserve the Earth for its beauty and the preciousness of life on it, it is necessary to stop the increasing pollution here. This is only possible when a global perspective is adopted for this. Along with this, he said that only new technology is not sufficient for Earth conservation. Discipline and strict laws are also necessary for this. ‘India is growing faster than the speed of thought’ During this time, Shubhanshu said that India is rapidly touching new heights in the field of space science and is moving forward at a faster pace than the world’s expectations. Soon the country will have its own space station established in space. It is hoped that by 2035 we will be able to work independently on that station. Praises India’s constitution for promoting scientific temper Shubhanshu mentioned that India’s Constitution is the only constitution in the world that considers developing scientific temper among its citizens as a fundamental duty. While sharing his space travel experiences, he talked about experiments conducted on cyanobacteria and algae in microgravity at the International Space Station. He also narrated several interesting incidents.
