Pep Guardiola urges Manchester City to stay sharp despite fatigue vs Burnley

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged his side to not let their foot off the accelerator when they face relegation-threatened Burnley (19th) in the English Premier League on Wednesday.

A win for the Sky Blues at Turf Moor will see them lead the EPL table with five games to go. After a pivotal 2-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal on Sunday, Guardiola knows a game like this could be a potential banana skin for his emotionally, and physically exhausted side.

“The recovery is much less than the last two weeks. It’s just two days. It’s a demanding game we had [vs Arsenal], both emotionally and physically. But we talked after the game. ‘Do not lose focus,’ I told them [City player],” said Guardiola on Tuesday.

The Spaniard also confirmed they will be without talismanic midfielder Rodri, who suffered a groin injury during the win over Arsenal.
