Apple launches iPhone 17e in India at starting price ₹64,900:With MagSafe charging, Ceramic Shield 2, and A19 chip, here’s what makes it stand out
Tech giant Apple has unveiled its most affordable smartphone in the updated 17 lineup, the iPhone 17e, on March 2 in global markets, including India.
The new model brings several upgrades over last year’s iPhone 16e, including the latest A19 chipset, a 48MP Fusion Camera, stronger build quality, MagSafe support, and double the base storage at 256GB. Alongside the new iPhone, the company also launched a refreshed iPad Air powered by the M4 processor, which Apple claims delivers 30% faster performance compared to the previous generation.
Price
The starting price of both the iPhone 17e and the new iPad Air has been set at ₹64,900. The iPhone 17e is priced slightly higher than its predecessor, which debuted at ₹59,900 last year. The increase is reportedly linked to memory chip supply constraints.
However, it’s worth noting that the base variant of the iPhone 16e offered 128GB storage, while the new 17e now starts with 256GB. Pre-bookings for both devices will open on March 4 at 7:45 PM, with official sales beginning from March 11. Design: Ceramic Shield 2 Safety with ‘Matte’ Finish The front of the iPhone 17e uses Ceramic Shield 2, which provides 3 times more protection from scratches. The back panel has a matte texture, preventing it from slipping when held in the hand. It retains the ‘notch’ design, similar to the old model. The phone features a special action button for shortcuts. For charging, it comes with a USB Type-C port. It will be available in 3 colors – Soft Pink, White, and Black.
