An ex-sarpanch, Manchu Chakraiah, aged 65, was murdered in Miryala village, Suryapet district. He was attacked with sticks and died from head injuries. The incident happened on Monday. Police have booked a case against 17 suspects based on a complaint by the victim’s daughter and increased vigilance in the village due to suspected political rivalry.
