What Qualcomm achieved On Saturday (February 7, 2026), Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced the tape-out of its 2nm chip design, a major milestone in semiconductor development. Tape-out means the final chip design is ready to be sent for manufacturing, a critical step in building next-generation processors. This milestone was highlighted at Qualcomm’s Bengaluru facility, during a visit by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Information Broadcasting, and Electronics IT. India’s role: Not just support, but core design Qualcomm said the breakthrough reflects the strength of its India-based engineering teams, working closely with global architecture and program groups. Engineers from Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad played a key role in the project.
