IPL 2025: Ishan Kishan`s bizarre dismissal in SRH-MI IPL clash raises eyebrows

In the IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI) came out victorious by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the southern city.
During the match, SRH wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan`s controversial dismissal raised eyebrows at the venue. It happened after the left-hander `supposedly` edged the ball in the hands of the wicket-keeper during Deepak Chahar`s over.
After MI`s Ryan Rickelton collected the ball, no appeal was made by the wicketkeeper or Chahar.
On-field umpire Vinod Seshan was about to declare the delivery wide, but Ishan started to leave the ground, indicating he had edged it to the keeper. The 26-year-old`s gesture made the umpire raise his finger making Kishan leave the ground after his dismissal.

Following the batter`s gesture, MI skipper Hardik Pandya patted him for his decision while he was leaving the ground.
While viewing the snippets of the delivery, there was no spike on the UltraEdge either.
Usually, cricket experts say on most occasions, a batter knows if he has edged the ball or not. But given the situation SRH are on ninth position of the points table and they needed to make the most of a flat batting wicket.
Kishan`s dismissal saw SRH slump to 9/2 in the third over. “You think you have seen it all after all these years and yet I must admit the Ishan Kishan`s dismissal leaves me perplexed,” wrote commentator Harsha Bhogle on X, expressing his surprise at the turn of events.
After Kishan`s dismissal, Heinrich Klaasen smashed 71 runs off just 44 deliveries, including nine boundaries and two maximums.
Impact player Abhinav Manohar played a knock of 43 runs in 37 balls, during which he scored two boundaries and three maximums.
Later, while chasing a target of 144 runs, Rohit Sharma delivered a match-winning knock of 70 runs. This was his second consecutive fifty in the IPL 2025. It ended in 46 balls, in which he smashed eight boundaries and three maximums.
Shouldering Rohit was Suryakumar Yadav, who stayed unbeaten on 40 runs. His unbeaten knock came in 19 deliveries, including five boundaries and two maximums.
