Punjab Kings chased 220 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad with 6 wickets in hand to keep their early momentum going. PBKS got off to a flying start by the openers before captain Shreyas Iyer guided his team to victory.
Chasing a big total of 220, PBKS got off to a flying start with both openers, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, attacking the SRH bowling from the first over. Arya raced to 57 runs of just 20 balls, while Prabhsimran scored 51 in 25 balls. The hosts scored 93 in the power play to start their run chase well.
After the dismissal of both the openers, Shreyas Iyer guided his team home with another brilliant innings. The captain scored 69 runs in just 33 balls and remained unbeaten as PBKS got another victory this season. Iyer`s innings included 5 fours and 5 sixes as he took the attack to the SRH bowlers.
Shashank Singh was at the crease with the skipper to take PBKS home.
For SRH, Shivang Kumar was the star bowler as he took 3 wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. However, it was too little too late as the hosts won the match with an over to spare. Harsh Dubey was the only other bowler to take a wicket for SRH.
SRH lost despite scoring 219 in the first innings
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored a mammoth 291 runs in 20 overs against Punjab Kings. SRH started with a bang, scoring 106 runs in the power play, before Heinrich Klassen finished off the innings strongly.
Abhishek Sharma raced to 74 runs in just 28 balls to give the visitors a dream start. His innings consisted of 5 fours and 8 sixes. Meanwhile, Travis Head looked back to his best too, scoring 38 in just 23 balls. The duo raced to a 100-run partnership in the first six overs.
For PBKS, Shashank Singh was the best bowler, taking 2/20 in 3 overs, including 2 wickets in one over.
This win takes PBKS to second place in the IPL table behind the Rajasthan Royals. SRH is in the sixth position with just 2 points.
