Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj posted an emotional message in which he called for justice, after the horrific Pahalgam terror attack, that left at least 26 killed and several others injured.
Terrorists opened fire at a prime tourist location in a scenic meadow in south Kashmir, about 30 miles southeast of Srinagar on Tuesday. The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, has claimed responsibility for the attack, marking one of the worst attacks in the region in recent years.
“To target and kill innocent civilians in the name of religion is pure evil…No cause, no belief, no ideology can ever justify such a monstrous act. Yeh kaisi ladai hai…jahaan insaan ki jaan ki koi keemat hi nahi (what sort of a fight is this in which there is no value for human life),” he asked.
“I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and trauma the families must be going through..May the families find the strength to survive this unbearable grief. We are so sorry for your loss. I hope this madness ends soon and these terrorists are found and punished, without mercy,” he added.
This has been one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Following the terror attack, security forces have launched search operations on Wednesday to track down the terrorists responsible.
Security has been heightened since the attack, with visuals from the area showing the streets deserted in the usually bustling tourist area. Many organisations have also called for a Jammu bandh following the attack.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is likely to discuss the issue of security in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, following the brutal terror attack in the region, sources from the Defence Ministry have informed on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday after concluding his visit to Saudi Arabia. PM Modi was on a two-day State visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. However, he cut short his visit following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir`s Pahalgam.
PM Modi skipped the official dinner hosted by Saudi Arabia and decided to cut short his visit, according to government sources. He was originally scheduled to return on Wednesday night. However, he arrived in India early Wednesday morning after a terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam on Tuesday.
