Jack Dorsey’s bluetooth messaging app ‘bitchat’ hits the App Store:Dorsey recently announced the bluetooth-based, open-source app that works without internet

No internet. No accounts. Just pure Bluetooth-powered, private messaging. A radical take on messaging Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey is back with a new experimental project bitchat mesh, a privacy-first messaging app that doesn’t need Wi-Fi, mobile data, or even a phone number. After a brief beta phase, the app is now officially available on the App Store. How does it work Unlike WhatsApp or Telegram, bitchat mesh uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networking to connect users. It creates a peer-to-peer network where messages jump from one nearby user to another no servers involved. Every message is end-to-end encrypted, stored only on your device, and is auto-deleted after a short time. There’s no user registration, no email, no phone number just a randomly assigned @handle, which you can customize later. Fully decentralized and open source The app has zero data collection and doesn’t track users in any way. This full decentralization could attract privacy lovers, but also regulators in certain regions. The interface is simple. Swiping left or tapping the “users” icon shows nearby users in range. Tap any user to start a private chat no internet required. Available now, but not everywhere bitchat mesh is now live on the App Store, though availability may vary by country. The source code is also up on GitHub, allowing developers to explore or build on the project. Whether it’s a tech experiment or the future of secure communication, bitchat mesh is definitely turning heads.
