Sunil Gavaskar feels having THIS player on the team is a plus for England

In the T20 World Cup 2026, Team India is all set to lock horns with England in the semi-final 2 of the marquee event. The match is scheduled to be played on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of the match, legendary Team India batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels having a player like Will Jacks in the lower order is a plus for the “Three Lions”.
“He is on a roll, and sometimes you have a tournament where everything is going right for you. Even with the bat, he is scoring handy runs for his team down the order. To have somebody like him batting at number seven is a real plus for England,” he said.
He then compared Jacks with Team India`s Shivam Dube.
“It`s just like having Shivam Dube. What we saw in India`s match against the West Indies, Dube came and hit two boundaries in one over to put the pressure off (from his team),” said Gavaskar.
The former cricketer also stated that it will be interesting to see how Team India`s right-handed batsmen handle Jacks, who has troubled many batsmen with his spin bowling.
“If there is a turn in the Wankhede pitch, he could be a handful. So, maybe how Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav or Hardik Pandya will handle him is going to be a key feature,” he said.
“Maybe he might not get to bowl too many deliveries to the left-handers in the team, whether it is Abhishek, Tilak, Dube or someone from down the order. The right-handers have to do more batting against him,” he added.
Before Team India`s match, South Africa will take on New Zealand in the semi-final 1. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the clash on March 4. The title clash of the marquee event is scheduled to be played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
