Surge in cotton import sparks debate over farmers’ distress

Concerns over rising cotton imports and farmer distress dominated the Lok Sabha. Raichur MP Kumar Naik highlighted challenges faced by domestic growers, especially in Karnataka. Imports from Brazil and the US have surged significantly. Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh assured support through MSP and procurement centers. The government aims to protect farmers’ interests amidst these evolving market dynamics.
