In the semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026 against England, Team India emerged victorious by seven runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

During the match, Team India`s lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah claimed one wicket for 33 runs in four overs.

Speaking about his performance, former cricketer Irfan Pathan heaped praise on the pacer by saying that India has never had a bowler like him before.

“I have spoken about Bumrah many times before and I will say it again. We are lucky that a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah plays for India. India has never had a bowler like him before. Perhaps the world has rarely seen a bowler like him.” he said.

“He has everything including yorkers, slower balls, outswing, inswing, and bouncers. He also knows very well how to bowl under pressure,” added Pathan.

He also feels that Bumrah deserved to be the “Player of the Match” for not leaking too many runs on falt track.

“According to me, Jasprit Bumrah should have been the Player of the Match. If you watched the game, you would have noticed that every other bowler had an economy rate of around 10. Some were even above 10 or close to 15. On such a flat pitch, 500 runs were scored. The one who performs the difficult job in such conditions is the real Player of the Match. The kind of work Jasprit Bumrah does, he bowls the tough overs,” said the former cricketer.

Along with Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel bagged one wicket each. Hardik Pandya returned with the figures of two wickets for 38 runs in four overs. Shivam Dube went wicketless in the semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026. On the other hand, in an attempt to chase a target of 254 runs, the “Three Lions” managed to reach 246 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Following the victory, the “Men in Blue” have sealed their berth for the title clash of the marquee event.
