US records first human case of ‘man eater’ New World Screwworm: What is it? Causes, symptoms, treatment explained
The US Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed the first travel-associated human case of New World screwworm. The patient had returned from El Salvador and has since recovered. While the risk to the public remains low, the parasite poses a significant threat to livestock, prompting increased prevention efforts and concerns among cattle ranchers, especially in Texas.
