Your Aadhaar goes digital with Face ID and QR codes:Indian Govt unveils new Aadhaar mobile app for faster and safer ID verification— no more photocopies or cards

In a significant move, the Indian government has launched a brand-new Aadhaar app to make identity verification faster, easier, and more secure.
Announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the app comes packed with smart features like Face ID and QR code scanning. Think of it like using UPI, but instead of paying, you’re just proving who you are.
The Union Minister said: No need to hand over Aadhaar photocopy at hotel receptions, shops, or during travel. The Aadhaar App is secure and shareable only with the user’s consent. 100 per cent digital and secure. What’s new in the Aadhaar app
The app, developed with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), uses artificial intelligence (AI) to bring Aadhaar to your phone in a more advanced and private way. Here’s what it offers: No more carrying Aadhaar photocopies With the new app, you won’t need to carry a physical Aadhaar card or hand over photocopies at hotel check-ins, shops, or while traveling. All you need is your phone. The app ensures your data stays private and is only shared when you give permission. Work just like UPI payments The app is designed to work in a way that feels familiar. Just like scanning a QR code to make a payment, you’ll soon be able to scan one for Aadhaar verification at different locations. Once scanned, your face is verified in real time, and your ID is confirmed instantly. App coming soon nationwide Currently in its Beta phase, the app will soon be available to everyone across India. Once launched, it’s expected to change how identity verification works, making it fully digital, quicker, and safer for all.
