17-year-old girl set to marry 42-year-old man: Hyderabad police stop marriage; parents, Qazi and mediator booked

Hyderabad police took swift action to halt the marriage of a 17-year-old girl to a much older man, Arif Ali Baig, a Dubai-based cab driver. Responding to information, law enforcement reached the Kalapathar location in time to stop the ceremony. Charges were filed under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, enabling the girl to continue her studies by enrolling in a nearby degree college.
